Four Panelled Interior Doors
March 11th, 2009 · No Comments
Four paneled interior doors are those with 4 pattern squares on the doors surface. Some can be inverted or dented into the wood, while others are built-up from the outside of the door to stand out. As a general rule, four panel doors were popular in new American homes between the late Victorian era and early 1930s.
The four squares on the door can come in a variety of pattern spacings that include a mixture of tall and short squares with wide cross pieces for separation, or squared that go from side-to-side without the wide central cross being a visual high point. These sturdy doors are decorative and currently receiving a revival in popularity for all eras of homes.
Doors can come in a complete variety of wood options and color tones, with many doors now also offering scrolled extras in a separate wood tone on top of a base wood. Lesser priced wood is sometimes used as cores, covered in exotic laminates. For those interested in saving money, UPVC doors can look like wood, are stronger than wood, and resist scuffing.

How To Fit Prehung Interior Doors
March 8th, 2009 · No Comments
The easiest way to hang a door is to call a contractor to do it for you. For those who insist upon trying this do it yourself project, be aware that knowing how to fit prehung interior doors includes being ready to tackle any unique unexpected traits that your door area presents to you.
Prehung interior doors go up very easily when all parts of the original doorway are perfect. The legs on the prehung door are normally a tad long so that it is possible to shorten one side or the other if the door opening is a tiny bit crooked. Doors can be shimmed with a tiny piece of wood to accommodate for any crookedness on either top bar or side-edges.
In many newer homes, in rooms that have not had a door before, it is possible to run into the door area including metal under the plaster that requires a special drill tip to nail through. After the door is in place and working properly, smart hangers remove the latch plate and throw a very long securing screw deep into the wall for extra durability, and then put the latch plate back on over top of the long screw head.
